|Description:||The Atlanta Community Food Bank is a nonprofit organization supplying food and grocery items to over 600 partner agencies serving families and individuals in 29 metro Atlanta and North Georgia counties. |
The key purpose of the Volunteer Services Support Assistant-Work Study is to assist in the implementation of logistics in regards to volunteer management with community based events. The individual will travel to assigned locations to gather information on participation, assist event planning team with volunteer management and will primarily serve the Metro Atlanta area. The individual may be out in the community one to two days per week and in the office for one half day per week (mileage is reimbursable).
The Volunteer Services Support Assistant- Work Study student will assist with the utilization of the new volunteer management system in community based applications as well as identify needed resources to assist the success of agencies and guide them to needed resources.
|Duties:||Responsibilities and Duties|
1. Coordinate with Volunteer Department Team to assist in recruitment of community volunteers
a. Schedule volunteers for special events and partnerships with ACFB
b. Assist in the coordination of identifying agencies willing to utilize additional volunteer support
c. Confirm volunteer attendance and send out satisfaction surveys
2. Coordinate with Marketing, Communications and Development Teams to provide volunteer support
a. Identify and fulfill needs and opportunities which encourage community partnership and continued growth.
3. Support the Volunteer Department Team with College Service Learning Program Opportunities
a. Increase awareness of service learning opportunities.
b. Assist in identifying opportunities for supporting internal customers.

• Input on areas of opportunities to promote success within designated projects.

• All Departments which utilize Volunteer assistance within ACFB
• Other Non Profit Organizations
a. At least one year work or internship experience with non-profit organizations is a plus.
b. Preference for those pursuing a degree in Social Work, Sociology or other related field.
2. Required qualifications
a. Excellent computer skills
b. Working knowledge of frequently-utilized computer programs such as Word, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
c. Ability to work independently
d. Excellent oral communication skills
e. Ability to work with diverse populations throughout metro Atlanta
f. Have car and be able to travel throughout Metro Counties such as: Fulton, DeKalb, Clayton, and Cobb
g. Must be able to work 1.5 days per week or a minimum of 12 hours per week.
h. Agree to abide by all state and federal laws, rules and regulations respecting confidentiality of a client’s information.

a. Experience with clients from various socioeconomic backgrounds
b. Bilingual (Spanish)
c. Experience with community outreach
d. Experience with public speaking
e. Experience with volunteer group organization/ leadership roles
This position works in a typical office setting. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing and/or bending; listening, talking and/or visual concentration; writing and/or computer use. This position would normally have routine opportunities to alter physical position or change eye focus. Lifting should not normally exceed 25 pounds. Travel will be required (1-2 days per week).
